SUPER SAIYAN STOKED

Today I feel SUPER STOKED.... SUPER SAIYAN STOKED!
I decided to try making an animated GIF. It looks mostly like Goku's hair is doing a little jig on top of his head instead of waving in a breeze.. Oh well, it was a good first attempt. :P

NEW DINOTASTIC ART!

The big ol' exciting commission I've been working on finally made it to its owner, so I'm posting about it here! They requested a dino rock band theme, so we decided to make it an awesome band poster! So many things I like!

Pencil rough time!

They decided on dinosaurs in space, which is an even greater combination of things I like! Woo! Although I still really like the other two roughs as well. Maybe the world needs even more fake dinosaur band posters...

Anyway, to the inks!

I had pretty well developed roughs already, so not to big a change. I just shifted things around to fit the composition better. Also I decided to hide a little nerdy reference in there. :P

AAAND, THE MOST EXCITING PART!!! COLORS!

Supaaah bright and crazy, as usual. Overall it was a really fun project. I'm very thankful of all the people in the world who decide their walls need awesome rockin' out dinos.

While I was researching this project, I actually discovered there was a real dinosaur band... Hevisaurus!!! They're a Finnish heavy metal band for children. All the band members are super cool dinosaurs. I'm 100% a fan of all these things.

 Räyh!

See you next time!

Pokemon Superhero Mashups!!! (for saaaale!!!)

I haven't drawn anything but RÖK stuff for a while, so I decided I needed an incredibly silly break from that.. Also I just couldn't decide if I wanted to draw some Pokemon or some superheroes...

SO WHAT IF THEY WERE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE!?!?!

Batgirl and all her favorite Pokemon! I found out all the bat Pokemon are super cute and fun to draw and are sooooo awesome, not just Swoobat. I guess all my previous hate was because of generation one Golbat... SO SCARY!!!

(This is the stuff of nightmares.)

Iron Man has some trouble with magnetic Pokemon.

Dazzler and Jigglypuff make an awesome singing team. Meanwhile, Wigglytuff didn't manage to evolve any awesome skating abilities. I had the best time making everything in this drawing SUPER SHINY AND SPARKLY!!!!

CUTE CUDDLY KITTIES EVERYWHERE! Also, Purugly may be the most entertaining Pokemon to draw. I recommend it. Were you aware the end of Purugly's tail wraps around its stomach to hold back all its fat? Whoever designed it is a genius and also completely insane.

Awesome.

Aaaaand my newest one... Doctor Strange!

Here they are all together. My first time coloring in marker for quite a while.. It's super nice and relaxing. And also now I have some original colored art that could be yours!!!!

Each one is 6"x8" and I'm selling them for $30 each. They're available over here at my Etsy shop! (As well as all issues of my heavy metal magical girl comic, RÖK.)

SUPER FUN UPDATE:
Lots of thanks to Comics Alliance for sharing these!

Want to be like these happy people? Get some custom drawings mailed to you!

For $20 (plus shipping) you get a 6x8 inked drawing with a little bit of color thrown in! (These will be on white bristol paper, which is archival unlike the cardboard shown in the examples. Ooooo! Although be aware this isn't the section for requesting epic 100 person battles in space... hold on to your butts, we'll get to that!

fancy shmancy commissions:

Now we're getting serious! Everyone's awesome commish idea is different, but I've created a simple outline so you can get an idea of what you can expect to pay. Check it out!

Single Character - Color = $75

Also remember, a character doesn't have to be a human: it could be a robot or a dinosaur... or a robot dinosaur with laser eyes!

All fancy schmancy commissions come with 300dpi .jpg for printing. For both B&W work and color, I'm happy to send you the original B&W inked line art if you provide shipping costs (or can meet in San Francisco!)

I keep the right to display the images and make prints. Prints will always be smaller than your original commission so that your work stays unique. RÖK #3 PARTYYYY~!

The RÖK #3 release party was so crazy fun! Thanks to everyone that showed up. It was great to meet RÖK fans that I didn't even know were out there~!!! I also created some life size cut-outs of Thor and Elaine, since they're most involved in the third issue! I'm so happy with them.. maybe I need to make the rest of the band and have a matching set?

If you're in San Francisco, you should check them out at the Isotope! They're still rocking out in the display window. If you wanna see more pictures of the release party, including some of the bajillion sketches I did, look over here.

Speaking of the third issue.. Its now available at Floating World along with the other issues in Portland. ALSOOOO.... RÖK #3 finally gets its Etsy debut!!!

To celebrate, here are a couple pages out of my super special secret planning notebook. These are only some of tons of different sketches I do before moving on to final comic pages. If you compare the comic pages to these, I'm sure you'll recognize quite a few pages! Also included a couple sample pages from #3~!

See you next time~!

GIANT SPACE DRAWING AAAAAH~!

This is the giant-est most epic drawing I've ever done! It was super fun. I meant to save a few more steps in completing it, but I was having too much fun and forgot. I worked on it as a commission, but I hope to make some prints of it too. Its 30"x12.5" so it makes a pretty awesome-tastic poster! Also I hid some cool characters in there, you should try and find 'em! Woooo!

MORE VIKINGS! AND WEIRDNESS!

I was playing around with taking photographs of food coloring in water. It turned out to be way too entertaining, now I have hundreds of these photos hanging around. They're fun to draw from though!

Obligatory viking drawing! So spooky!

Die Antwoord and Noise Pop 2012!!

Hey all, here's my comic from this year's Noise Pop! (Last year's comic here.) Die Antwoord is super awesome, and I was really happy to get to see their show. I'm also pretty sure I'll be selling prints of this soon!

Anyway, I actually made a second comic which has been hiding around my computer until now, so I thought I'd share that as well. I really love drawing Yolandi! And also, there really was a sad unicorn, although I think he became a happy unicorn because someone gave him a ticket to get into the show...

I still have more arts hiding around, so I'll update again real soon! Raaaaah!

LONG LOST APE 2011 POST!

I've realized that maybe I should have posted a little bit about APE last year, which was the most amazing time ever. The 2nd issue of ROK was far more successful than I ever expected. I don't know why its taken me so long to put it in my blog (extreme shyness?) but I'm so happy to say ROK#2 won the Isotope Award for Excellence in Mini-Comics!

This has certainly motivated me to keep up with ROK's twice a year release schedule, so expect #3 at Stumptown in Portland at the end of April! I'll try and post more about the process this time around, I think. Its pretty crazy and intense!

Until then, here are some preview pages for ROK#2 if you haven't gotten to take a look yet. Both issues of ROK are still up at my Etsy store here.

Of course I was not alone at APE! I was with the awesome and lovely ladies Jemma Salume and Kelly Martin! Together we make the unstoppable comic force that is.. Comic Strip Club! Oh so punny... Our table by far was the most horrifyingly sparkly thing in the con, and therefore the best.

Kelly Martin is the creator of Doctor Lollipop! So cute! So funny! So full of disturbing and offensive jokes!

Jemma Salume made Captain Kitten.. Its full of dinosaurs and cats, how can you not enjoy that?

Apologies for this post which was due soooo many months ago! I'm not sure where it disappeared to.. I have lots more new stuff to talk about too. I may have been quiet lately, but it isn't because I haven't been drawing! Yay!
