MORE VIKINGS! AND WEIRDNESS!

I was playing around with taking photographs of food coloring in water. It turned out to be way too entertaining, now I have hundreds of these photos hanging around. They're fun to draw from though!

Obligatory viking drawing! So spooky!

Die Antwoord and Noise Pop 2012!!

Hey all, here's my comic from this year's Noise Pop! (Last year's comic here.) Die Antwoord is super awesome, and I was really happy to get to see their show. I'm also pretty sure I'll be selling prints of this soon!

Anyway, I actually made a second comic which has been hiding around my computer until now, so I thought I'd share that as well. I really love drawing Yolandi! And also, there really was a sad unicorn, although I think he became a happy unicorn because someone gave him a ticket to get into the show...

I still have more arts hiding around, so I'll update again real soon! Raaaaah!

LONG LOST APE 2011 POST!

I've realized that maybe I should have posted a little bit about APE last year, which was the most amazing time ever. The 2nd issue of ROK was far more successful than I ever expected. I don't know why its taken me so long to put it in my blog (extreme shyness?) but I'm so happy to say ROK#2 won the Isotope Award for Excellence in Mini-Comics!

This has certainly motivated me to keep up with ROK's twice a year release schedule, so expect #3 at Stumptown in Portland at the end of April! I'll try and post more about the process this time around, I think. Its pretty crazy and intense!

Until then, here are some preview pages for ROK#2 if you haven't gotten to take a look yet. Both issues of ROK are still up at my Etsy store here.

Of course I was not alone at APE! I was with the awesome and lovely ladies Jemma Salume and Kelly Martin! Together we make the unstoppable comic force that is.. Comic Strip Club! Oh so punny... Our table by far was the most horrifyingly sparkly thing in the con, and therefore the best.

Kelly Martin is the creator of Doctor Lollipop! So cute! So funny! So full of disturbing and offensive jokes!

Jemma Salume made Captain Kitten.. Its full of dinosaurs and cats, how can you not enjoy that?

Apologies for this post which was due soooo many months ago! I'm not sure where it disappeared to.. I have lots more new stuff to talk about too. I may have been quiet lately, but it isn't because I haven't been drawing! Yay!

Save a Sidekick!

Robin is laid off due to budget cuts.. Every comic you buy helps a sidekick in need! It was my idea for an assignment to use propaganda in an illustration, so I hope you feel sufficiently guilt tripped now.

No, this isn't a new comic.. I'm behind on personal work for reasons I'll hopefully be able to show off soon!

NEW COMIC! FROM SPAAAAACE!

Hey there all, I'm alive, and I come bearing a brand new comic! I'll have a new page weekly for twelve weeks, starting January. That's right, FREE COMICS FOR YOU! Even better, free space comics...

In the oppressive space future, magic has been outlawed for defying the laws of science. All the magicians throughout space were rounded up and exiled to the lamest planet around. Those who escape are hunted ruthlessly.

Although a magician hasn't been seen by the outside world in generations, their relics still pass through the space black market. While magicians are the only ones who can unlock these item's full potential, a wand or a hat can still change the tide of battle.

Space creatures on the wrong side of the law can make a fortune dealing in all sorts of forbidden magical artifacts. Including a certain sexy space girl with a rocket powered mace!

However, break the anti-space magic laws and you have to deal with the J.A.W.S., a fearsome robotic police force.

Once again, this comic is written and drawn by me. (the only Katie Longua.. I think) It was quite a bit of fun working on, so hopefully that comes across when you get to read it! With that, I'll leave you with the inks for the first page! If spacegirls with rocket powered maces fighting robot police space sharks don't catch your interest, I'm not sure what will.

Katiesaurus fantasizes about being a rock star!

Standing in the rain, with her head hung low
Couldn't get a ticket, it was a sold out show
Heard the roar of the crowd, she could picture the scene
Put her ear to the wall, then like a distant scream
She heard one gameboy, just blew her away
She saw stars in her eyes, and the very next day

Bought a beat up gray brick, in a used-game store
Didn't know how to play it, but she knew for sure
That one gameboy, felt good in her hands, didn't take long, to understand
Just one gameboy, held way down low
Was a one way ticket, only one way to go
So she started bleepin', ain't never gonna stop
Gotta keep on bloopin', someday gonna make it to the top

And be an 8-bit hero, got coins in her eyes, she's an 8-bit hero
She took one gameboy, 8-bit hero, pixels in her eyes
8-bit hero, (stars in her eyes) She'll come alive tonight
